G.O.A.L. University
Get Onboard Active Learning (GOAL) University is a program designed to educate young students about the importance of nutrition and physical activity. During the program, along with a group of IUI students, I visited a local elementary school on a weekly basis. Each week started with a nutrition lesson and ended with some sort of physical activity for the students. I participated in the program during my first semester at IUI. During my second semester, I took on the role of a site leader within the program. This means that I led the group of IUI students as we visited the elementary school. It was my responsibility to organize the lesson plan, divide tasks amongst my group, and maintain communication between IUI and our local elementary school. Through this program, I gained a sense of community as I was applying my own experience as a Health Sciences student outside of campus, as well as leadership experience.
