Honors Experience
Being in the Honors College at IUI, I have a strong emphasis on academic excellence, personal and social responsibility, engaged learning, and equity and inclusion. These four Honors core values are represented through my experiences within the Honors College below.
First Year
Honors Contract - HLSC-H 200: Survey of U.S. Health Care System Services
To the left is a literature review I completed as an Honors contract for the class Survey of U.S. Health Care System. The topic of the piece was the use of three-dimensional printing in the medical field. Over the entirety of the semester, I researched and developed the piece, focusing on the current benefits, disadvantages, and future use. Additionally, I incorporated the course curriculum by emphasizes the key aspects of the U.S. Health care system: cost, accessibility, and quality.
Honors Experience - Costa Rica: Honors College Service Learning
During my first year, I participated in the Honors study abroad program based in Costa Rica. Use the button below to learn more:
Second Year
Honors Contract - BIOL-K 101: Concepts of Biology I
To the right is a research paper I wrote on female Nobel Prize winners. The paper highlights 6 female Nobel laureates, their stories, and their significant contributions to their sciences. Over the semester, I researched this topic to develop the finalized paper as shown here. As a woman in science, learning more about the women that paved the way was extremely impactful to my own academic goals and development.
Honors Contract - SPAN-S 313: Writing Spanish 1
Another Honors contract that I developed was in a Spanish writing course. The topic of the paper was the culture of Costa Rica, with points from my own experience during my study abroad program and from research. This allowed me to connect my prior Honors experience to my current learning. The goal of the paper was to develop my Spanish writing skills, which is a main focus of the course.
Third Year
Honors Contract - PBHL-P 456: Study Abroad: Norway and Sweden
For a study abroad course for a program based in Norway and Sweden, I developed an e-Portfolio as an Honors contract. Click the image to the left to explore the e-Portfolio and learn more about each country, their culture, history, healthcare systems, and my experience abroad!
